Strategy Team

November 9, 2001 Notes on Purpose Discussion

Purpose/Mission

Manage overall committee strategies, coordinate between teams, and act quickly on behalf of whole committee, if needed.

The Strategy team's role is to:

  • Act as the Executive or Board of Directors for Hawaii Together
  • Access overall strategy to bring team ideas together
  • Act as a sounding board and/or clearinghouse for ideas
  • Keep team efforts on track
  • Provide long term direction and vision
  • Bust barriers
  • Look at the big picture. Make sure each team is not duplicating or sub optimizing the others efforts
  • Keep all of Hawaii Together on track and working toward goals and vision
  • Lay out the roadmap for teams to use to achieve objectives
  • Coordinating effort
  • Identify what is being done and what is not (listen to the teams and help pass on information). Help identify the gaps.
  • One "Hat" = 10,000 foot level to guide the teams
  • One "Hat" = 50,000 foot level to deal with outside entities, e.g., Governor, State, Federal, City & County
  • Define the vision (for HT), preserve the vision, and support delivery of the vision.

Outcomes:

  • Define our vision (Strategy team) have a system that measures our progress/goals (monthly).
  • The teams see the strategy team as a positive force that reduces or busts barriers.
  • We make "it" happen. Report progress and successes to the Governor.

Communication and Coordination:

  • Use the HT web page. All team meetings.
